Arizona Western College has announced a construction improvement project at the Parker Learning Center.

The AWC building is located on the corner of Geronimo Avenue and 11th Street in Parker. The project will include asphalt paved parking around the complex, a new concrete stair entrance in front of the college (on Geronimo Ave) and a new traffic flow pattern for the existing two parking lots.

Two sealed bids were submitted and opened September 12th, 2013 for the project. CEMEX of Yuma was the lowest bid and was awarded the new paving upgrade contract on September 19th, 2013. No contractors from the La Paz County area submitted a construction bid.

“This is going to be a great improvement for student accessibility,” said Rich Tozer, Interim Associate Dean of AWC La Paz Services. “We have an excellent learning environment inside our AWC Parker complex. This project will improve student safety and provide a better entrance to our college.”

Final completion of the upgrade is anticipated by January 6th, 2014.
