As COVID surges in La Paz County, hospital implements new measures

La Paz County is experiencing a surge in cases of COVID-19 in recent days, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 771 and the total number of related deaths to 19. In response, La Paz Regional Hospital is implementing new measures around safety.

1. The only public entry to the main hospital is through the front lobby. The surgery door is an exit only door at this time.

2. Patient visiting hours are limited to 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Only one person may visit a hospitalized patient at any one time. Exceptions may be made for critical patients, patients needing caregivers, and children less than 15 years of age, depending on hospital capacity and current COVID conditions.

3. For outpatient services, including Emergency, Urgent Care, Physical Therapy, X-ray, Lab, Surgery and Cardiopulmonary, one person may accompany the patient if needed.

4. COVID-19 coronavirus rapid testing has been moved from the lobby to outside in the Serenity Garden, to the left of the main entrance. Groups with over 10 persons should call 928-669-7300 for an appointment.

“Our communities can be proud of all the many healthcare workers and essential service workers, and their collaborative, caring spirit,” said hospital CEO Kevin Brown. “Knowing that COVID-19 will be with us for the foreseeable future, we remain deeply committed to providing the safest possible environment for your health care.”
