A 15 year old boy drowned on Saturday, August 15th near the bridge in Parker, AZ, according to law enforcement.

Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded to the Colorado River near the Riverview Mobile Home Park for a report of a drowning victim who had been submerged and missing for over an hour.

Members of the Colorado River Station’s Dive Rescue Team were assisted by a Care Flight helicopter in locating the body of the victim, near the Wheeler Inn RV Park. Dive team members removed the victim’s body from the water around 5 p.m.

The victim was male and 15 years old, according to the Sheriff’s Department. He had been swimming north of Riverview when he became caught in the current and carried downstream. The victim was apparently unable to swim out of the current and went underwater and did not resurface.

Friends of the victim attempted to rescue him but could not locate him as he became submerged in the water. The victim’s name is currently being withheld.
