An economic development professional in Parker has been recognized at the Arizona state level for bringing new business to La Paz County.

On May 7th, 2015, Vincent “Skip” Becker, President and CEO of the La Paz Economic Development Corporation, received the 2015 Economic Developer of the Year Small Community Award from the Arizona Association for Economic Development (AAED). The Economic Development Distinguished by Excellence Awards were established by the members of the AAED to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of an economic development professional.

Roberta Hoffman, EDC Chairperson said, “Skip works 70 to 80 hours a week, he has brought a level of professionalism to the area that we really needed, he has changed La Paz County and the towns of Parker, Bouse, Salome, Quartzsite and Wenden forever.”

“I am honored to receive this prestigious award,” stated Mr. Becker. “I am also very grateful for the confidence of the La Paz EDC and the relationships we are building with the business community.”

Mr. Becker started his current position on February 19th, 2013. Since that time the La Paz EDC has been involved in projects totaling more than $800 million dollars, resulting in the possibility of more than 500 new jobs being created in La Paz County, AZ.
