A Parker teen has taken first place at an Arizona weightlifting national championship event.

Ashley Hoban, 16, went to the 100% Raw Powerlifting Federation’s Arizona American Challenge in Tucson, AZ over the weekend. She took first place by benching 125 lbs (55kg), squatting 180 lbs (80kg) and deadlifting 208 lbs (125 kg).

“I’m so happy!” said Ashley on her Facebook page. “Because of this, I qualified for the World Championships in Vegas! I’m so lucky to have family and friends who care for and support me in what I do and I wanna thank the VFW for sponsoring this trip! I also want to shout out Quality Strength Fitness and Evolution Fitness in Tucson, AZ. I really encourage more people to get into weightlifting! It really benefits you mentally and physically.”

Ashley is also one of the Parker teens featured in the Live Campaign short film (2013), which can be seen by clicking HERE.
