KLPZ to run infamous baseball golf tournament July 12th

Parker radio station KLPZ 1380am is running its infamous FLOG tournament (‘GOLF’ spelled backwards) at Emerald Canyon Golf Course north of Parker on July 12th, 2014.

Participants – called ‘Floggers’ – play a ‘best ball’ version of golf with baseball bats in teams of 3 people. There are typically prizes for winners and runners-up and some prizes for best dressed teams or themes.

The FLOG tournament is in its 14th year. Floggers usually include small business owners, locals and visitors, including some who travel to Parker, AZ just to play the game. There are a limited number of teams accepted and registration fills up quickly. FLOG also benefits local charities.

The event kicks off the night before with the calcutta, where registered teams are auctioned off to the highest bidder, who bet on them to win.
