Parker Senior Center is dealing with the potential loss of government funding for its Meals on Wheels service, which brings meals to needy senior citizens across La Paz County.

A possible furlough of WACOG (the Western Arizona Council of Governments) is threatening to affect Meals on Wheels, according to Bill Risen, because 60 percent of the program’s funding comes from WACOG.

Risen says the state of Arizona will help for one month. Meantime, the Parker Senior Center needs the public’s help. The only items the Center needs at the moment are peanut butter and canned fruit, he said.

“Jars of peanut butter and cans of fruit can be dropped off at the Parker Senior Center, or you can call (928) 669-8620.”

Parker Senior Center is located at 1115 W 12th Street in Parker, AZ.
