Serious accident on Mohave Road

3:19– A serious two-vehicle accident has occurred on Mohave Road between Blythe/I-10 and Parker near the town of Poston, AZ.

Traffic is affected northbound at McCabe Rd and southbound at Scott Rd two miles south of Blythe, and is reportedly being detoured on 14th Street.

3 medical helicopters were dispatched to the scene along with multiple ground responders. Early unconfirmed reports say three adults and five children were involved, head trauma being listed among the (unconfirmed) injuries.

3:53– Major route alternatives are turnoffs to Parker on I-10 at Vicksburg, Quartzsite and Desert Center (order; east to west). Also, traffic can use Highway 95 on the California side of the Colorado River to Vidal.

3:59– A CRIT law enforcement officer tells us that, since the accident occurred on federal reservation land, a full investigation is required involving the FBI. The route may therefore be expected to be closed for several hours.

4:10– As of now, contrary to previous information, Mohave Road is completely closed; there is no detour in effect yet and traffic is turning back to Blythe.

4:22– A farmer calls to say traffic is detouring near CRIT Farms on 17th Avenue.
