Summer heat finally breaks in Parker

John Wright · Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 8:52 am · News / Happenings

Bring out your long pants and put away your flip flops! The Parker area didn’t reach 100 degrees yesterday for the first time since the summer, finally ushering in a new season here in the desert.

After a few months of consistent high temps over 105 degrees, yesterday – the last day of September – we had a beautiful 88-degree afternoon, giving way to an overnight low of about 66 early this morning.

And the good news for those of us looking for a break from the summer heat is that the cooler temps are here to stay! The forecast for the next 10 days is for high 80’s and low 90’s, meaning that those plus-100-degree days are gone until 2010.

Meantime, snow fell in several states for the first time. Listen! Can you hear the roar of thousands of RVs?

I ordered this weather several weeks ago. It’s funny really. If you pay attention, anyone can tell when the weather will break within a few days. It goes from 110 to 90 almost overnight. I’m just glad it finally hit. Kayaking in the afternoon after Chico’s tomorrow morning.
